Western Tanager

Western Tanagers are common in the coniferous forests surrounding Salmon and in Idaho and Montana. You may remember them from this past spring of 2020 when inclement weather forced large flocks of birds to desperately roam around town and visit feeders searching for other food options because the insects they rely upon had either died or were not flying during the cold weather. Tip - if that ever happens again, put out orange slices, the sugar provides bursts of energy and they love them.
